The Compulsory Purchase Order has been sealed and a copy placed on what was Mrs Sheward's shop door. This is now the start of a very important year of fundraising to make this project a reality.
Mrs Sheward donated her warehouse to the village and it was dedicated in 1919 as Parkend Memorial Hall to those that served in WW1, with those in WW2 added later. 2019 will mark the centenary of this dedication and this project aims to bring the whole building back together again.
We are planning to hold an open meeting on Sat Jan 5th in the Memorial Hall to start this major project It is extremely important that we have a really good turnout from a cross section of the village as this will be a totally inclusive building for all residents. We can do a morning or afternoon and would welcome feedback as to the most suitable time.
To get it to this point has taken a lot of hard work and commitment from a group of Parkend people who had the vision to try and get this project from an idea to a formal CPO and by the staff and councillors at both the Forest of Dean District Council and West Dean Parish Council who have guided and supported us through this process. It is now time to formalise a committee to see this project through so If you are interested in being part of the organising committee please let us know.
Many thanks for supporting all our 2018 fundraising events and we hope to have many more in 2019. The full Compulory Purchase Order can now be viewed online at
